All through the night when my baby cried and yelled out for food with limbs going wild,
though tired and sleepy I ran to his side and held him and said,
"Are you hungry my child?"
And all through the years as his body would grow with spaghetti and chicken soup, nourishing platters
I fed my child for all mothers know
the love for our dear ones is all that matters
Then I taught him to read and gave him fine books - his mind was so precious, it needed to feed
on fairy tales, stories, wherever he looked
enriching his mind - a child's great need
Then with music that soared and culture surrounding the finest of arts gave my child a life
with passion and love for the arts overflowing
to share with his children, his friends and his wife
and each day through the years, I fed him with blessings obtained from above so his life had success
and visiting him, though he moved far away
I knew that God gave my dear son the best
But the body grows old and minds do not last, yes the body and soul do not stay here forever
and though we have fed them all things in the past
the hunger remains, we know we can't sever
The cry of the spirit which never does fade and oft seems confused, in pain and beguiled
but a mother with tears knowing his greatest need, shows JESUS and says,
"Are you hungry my child?"
